How to get started

You’ve heard about bullet journaling … or paper planning … or traveler’s notebooks but you’re not sure where to begin.  Then you’re in the right spot! There is a lot of information on this website and it can be overwhelming for the beginner. Below I’ve pulled together some of the articles that will get you started.

If you’re still confused and not sure what to do next, I’m here to help!

How to Start Bullet Journaling: the unconventional method

So you want to start bullet journaling. Awesome! I’m so happy you’ve started and you’re on your way…. Wait? What? You haven’t started yet? What are you waiting for?  It’s all very overwhelming, isn’t it?  I truly believe that you shouldn’t start with the official bullet journal system. How can someone else’s way of organizing their life work for you? You have a totally different life. Instead, you need to find a cheapo notebook and any old pen and just start writing stuff down every day. Carry this notebook around for a few weeks and in the end, you’ll have a great understanding of what you need that bullet journal needs to be for you.

Mega A5 Bullet Journal Notebook Review

Now that you have a better understanding of what you need your journal to be FOR YOU – it’s time to figure out which journal is the one you’ll love. In my quest to find the perfect A5 bullet Journal notebook I ended up buying 30-ish different notebooks. Yes, 30. So grab a pot of coffee (you’ll need more than a cup) and a snack and let’s dig into this review, pen test and nerdy commentary about the notebooks we all know and love. The original article started with 24, then it went to 30, and now I’ve got 6 more journals that need to be added. So come back here often to see what’s new.

Keeping multiple journals at once

There are some people who can fit their entire life inside a single bullet journal. They combine their schedule and appointments with tasks and project management and add in journaling, art, meeting notes, commonplace book, mixed media art, photos and anything else that comes along. My brain doesn’t work like that, though. I admire those who can do it, but I just can’t. I need multiple journals in my life. And when I say multiple, I mean 13.
