My Review:

What attracted me to this journal was the beautiful color choices. I got this light dusty sky blue color, but there’s also golden yellow, a burnt orange, deep gray, seafoam green and others. The fabric covering reminds me a lot of the Baron Fig Confident journal without the same price tag. It feels elegant in my hand like I’m holding something more luxurious than a mere journal.

This brand only carries the journal as a lined option. It’s wide ruled, so if you’ve got larger handwriting or need extra space, this is ideal (there are 22 lines per page). The elastic strap matches the ton of the cloth cover, but it seems weak and slightly too large for the notebook – not sure if I just got a dud, or if they all come like this.

The paper quality is nice and has a very smooth feel to it with a slight coating to protect against ink seepage. There’s moderate ghosting with the heavier pens but no bleeding or feather (the benefit of the coated paper).

Other Labon Journals

This brand, Labon, has a few other journal options that you might want to investigate:

Labon’s Hardcover Notebook Premium Thick Paper Journal – available in multiple primary colors and page styles that include dotted, lined, squared, and blank. With 100gsm paper, this appears to the sister of the cloth cover book and worth a try.

Labon’s Classic Cartoon Hardcover Notebook – this one is too good NOT to share. OMG! A whole series of cartoon-based journals for the characters in Alice in Wonderland (everyone but Alice, it would seem). I think I love the purple rabbit one the best. Inside you get pages with lines, squares and blank options… but best of all, hidden throughout the journal the characters seem to be peeking through the page. Check out this picture. Don’t you just NEED this book?
